Shana and her husband, Grant, have been foster parents for the past 11 years.  They have fostered and adopted children in both California and Tennessee.  Through their journey they have seen what the foster system holds, in both positive and negative ways.

During their international travels they have visited many countries that have high orphan and poverty rates thus increasing their passion and desire to serve children in these areas.  Recently, in Nicaragua, Shana found an intense need for school uniforms for children; something that helps each child feel equal with the next.  She also learned much about the orphan crisis in this country, the second poorest in our world.

Their goal is to aid organizations, both domestically and internationally, to end the adoption and foster care crisis globally.  With love, patience and hard work they believe that this can be done.

Parents to Krystina and Christopher, this family believes that love and laughter are the keys to life.  As a family they spend much time on the soccer fields and engaged in good old family time.  They have 2 dogs and a cat which are sometimes more like additional children than simply animals.

“I have seen the great positive impact that The Smiths display with the children we serve. They are mentors to their children and to those that cross paths with them. I have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with this wonderful, beautiful, and hardworking family.”

Bring stability to children in the U.S. foster care system by growing the pool of available foster parents. More available homes means less displacement for children and no individual home is overwhelmed with take-in requests.

Education is imperative for foster homes to thrive and to adequately care for the children’s needs. Along with providing connections to trusted organizations, I will share from my 11 years of experience as a foster and adoption parent.
As an ambassador for Go Red For Women, I teach the importance of living heart-healthy to my children and to my temporary children.

Support not only children in foster care (can be as simple as providing their own backpack) but also foster families. I am establishing support groups for foster parents to ensure they have a support network in place so that they can continue to provide every child a greater chance at lifelong success.

Providing information through my YouTube channel on the Myths & Facts of foster & orphan care and adoption.  My series on How To: Foster and adopt both domestically & internationally.   As well as establish & grow local, national and international support groups to further support and grow our network of families.
